Thank you everyone for your nice birthday wishes and messages which made my day really special! A big thank you also to our families and friends at home who shared their wishes with Baerbel and now nicely combined in a paper notebook.
We had a fantastic evening and celebrated my birthday with our new Singapore friends, with whom we had spent the last week. I got the nicest and biggest birthday cake ever, had a very funny, nice and delicious typical Singapore steamboat dinner (kind of Chinese fondu), and drunk too much red wine which I have yearned for since India.
Things often happen for a specific reason, and if we hadn’t had problems with our rusting spokes in Georgetown a couple of weeks earlier, we would never have met our friend John. And thanks to him and his friend Johann we got in touch with Ching-Hua who kindly shared her nice apartment with us in a Condo with two swimming pools. We met Matthew and Denis who took us out almost every day for great cycling tours around the city. They made us taste all kinds of delicious dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We met Thomas who offered his house for my celebration and his wife Clare who cooked the dinner and cleaned up the mess afterwards. We weren’t allowed to help! And we met Kelvin and John’s wife Mei on our Saturday night cycling trip through the city. And John and Mei are now sharing their apartment with us.
What a great bunch of people and what a wonderful evening, a big thanks to all of them. Below some pictures of our celebration.
